Mr. Matthew Smith provided an update to the committee on Communities in Bloom.  After discussions with the Community Services General Manager and Parks Division, the Committee, with Town's support, will enter the non-competitive Nation Judges Tour.   This gives an opportunity to ease back into the Nation CiB program without competing against other Municipalities and provides a consultant's report.  Marketing for sub-committee volunteers will be discussed further with communications and pushed during Earth Week.

Mr. Smith and Ms. Nilsson provided an update on a Bike to the Farmers Market event to tentatively take place on May 20.  The BIA is supportive of the event and has agreed to supply items for participant goodie bags, plus grand prize vouchers and marketing support.  Participants will be encouraged to bike to the market, take a selfie, use designated hashtags, and will receive a goodie bag.

The Committee members also discussed the concept of having a Bike Repair Tower with pump available in the downtown core on Broadway.  Several surrounding municipalities have added these units i.e. Mulmur, Mono, etc.  The Committee will allocate funding and coordinate with the Town's Infrastructure Services Department who is leading the Broadway Bricks project currently.

  • Moved byM. Whitcombe

That the Sustainable Orangeville Committee will allocate $2,600 CDN towards a Bike Work Stand with pump along Broadway to be coordinated with Infrastructure Services.
