Delegate - Sara MacRae, Manager of Climate and Energy, County of Dufferin

 

Sara MacRae, Manager of Climate & Energy, County of Dufferin, spoke to the Climate Action in Dufferin presentation which outlined Dufferin County's greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, Dufferin's GHG reduction targets, two (2) climate action pathways (mitigation and adaptation), local climate priorities, the youth climate activation circle and opportunities for youth involvement.

Council Updates

 

Mayor Lisa Post shared that Council recently passed the 2024 budget.

ODSS Town Hall Update & Next Steps

 

The Committee discussed the ODSS Town Hall that took place Friday, November 3rd, 2023, for the first ever Mayor's Youth Town Hall Forum. The event was a success with strong attendance and a very engaged audience who presented a wide range of topics for discussion. Scheduling a similar event at Westside is still in progress and a date will hopefully be confirmed in the New Year.

Workplan Update

 

The Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) workplan was presented to Council on Monday November 13th, 2023. The Committee discussed how well the presentation was received and next steps for potential members of the MYAC to present to other Committees of Council.

Announcements

 

The Committee discussed:

  • Monthly Youth Council meetings
  • Details regarding the upcoming "Respect Your Rec" campaign 
  • Speakers for the Horizon Leadership Conference in February 2024. 
  • The opening of Mill St. Library
