The Committee discussed several internal and external groups who wish to attend future Access Orangeville Committee meetings including Facilities and Parks, By-Law and external organization StopGap. 

New Committee member, Michelle Hartley, introduced herself, provided an overview of her experience and shared her enthusiasm to be a part of this Committee. 

The Committee discussed procurement timelines for On Demand as well as ongoing sidewalk challenges to be resolved with the County.

The Committee discussed various resources that could be added to the Town Website including information about local food and toy drives, Salvation Army initiatives, local Christmas events and recreation activities. 

Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) legislation requires the Access Orangeville Committee to have a multi-year workplan. Sharon Doherty, Manager, Recreation and Events shared an overview of the Workplan, outlining high level sections such as Integrated Accessibility Standard Regulation Compliance Activities, Information & Communications, Employment Standards, Transportation Standards, Design of Public Spaces, and Additional Accessibility Activities. Ms. Doherty and James Jackson are planning to present the Workplan to Council in December 2023.

Note:  Ms. Doherty to update the Workplan to include items discussed such as plowing of trails/indoor alternatives, accessible parking, input into the Rotary Workplan and inclusive play spaces.

The Committee discussed recreation activities and sponsored events. 

Sharon Doherty, Manager, Recreation and Events, shared that Luke Anderson, Executive Director of the StopGap Foundation, is available to attend the next scheduled Access Orangeville Committee meeting in December.

    That the Access Orangeville Committee sponsor $600.00 towards a New Years Eve two (2) hour skate at Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre on Sunday December 31st, 2023.
